Commercial Diving Course in South Africa: Jacks Dive Chest at Gauteng Career Expo 2026
Jacks Dive Chest brought the world of commercial diving to Gauteng at the 2026 Career Day Expo held at Emperors Palace. As one of around 90 exhibitors, the team welcomed students, parents, career seekers and industry visitors who wanted to learn more about commercial diving as a possible career.
The expo attracted more than 5,000 attendees from schools across the Mid Rand, East Rand and West Rand. For many visitors, it was their first opportunity to discover that commercial diving is a professional career path supported by specialist training, practical skills and recognised qualifications.
Discovering Commercial Diving as a Career
At stand A09, the Jacks Dive Chest team created an interactive experience rather than a traditional exhibition display. CEO Trevor Bailey, CFO Alta Bailey, Declan Stubbs and Brayden Faroa were on hand to answer questions, share training experiences and explain what students can expect when completing a commercial diving course in South Africa.
Visitors could learn more about the academy’s training programmes, entry requirements and the practical skills needed to prepare for work in the commercial diving industry.
The strong response showed that many young people are interested in careers that combine technical ability, practical work and underwater environments.
Hands-On Commercial Diving Experience at the Expo
One of the biggest attractions was the professional diving equipment on display. Jacks Dive Chest exhibited a KM 77 stainless steel commercial diving helmet connected to underwater CCTV and communications equipment, together with a portable dive panel.
More Than 1,000 Visitors Tried the Diving Helmet
More than 1,000 people had the opportunity to try on the diving helmet and experience underwater communications for themselves.
This hands-on experience helped visitors understand that commercial diving involves much more than simply working underwater. Communication systems, specialist equipment, safety procedures and technical training all play an important role in preparing divers for professional work.
Declan and Brayden also shared their own training experiences with students, helping prospective divers gain a clearer picture of what life at a commercial dive academy can involve.
Jacks Dive Chest Commercial Diving Course Giveaway
Another highlight of the expo was the Jacks Dive Chest Commercial Diving Course Giveaway.
Three draws were held during the event, with commercial diving training valued at approximately R200,000 awarded to three winners. The prizes included two Class IV Commercial Diving Courses and one combined Class IV and Class III Commercial Diving Course.
All three winners were contacted and officially notified, and Jacks Dive Chest looks forward to welcoming them to its accredited Commercial Dive Academy in Strand, Western Cape.
